Round One (Sunday 31 March - FOX): North Melbourne v Collingwood, Etihad Stadium (away), 4.40pm
The 2013 mission gets underway with a twilight clash against North Melbourne on Easter Sunday. The Roos restricted Collingwood to only eight goals in round 21 last year meaning the Maggies will be keen to atone. The two sides last met in round one, 2007, when the Pies stormed home to win by only three points after Shannon Grant coughed up the chance to seal the win for the Roos.

Since 2008
Collingwood: 4
North Melbourne: 3??

Round Two (Sunday 7 April - Seven): Collingwood v Carlton, MCG (home), 3.15pm

Who would ever have imagined that 2010 premiership coach Mick Malthouse would coach the ultimate enemy? Expect the MCG to be bursting at the seams as the mighty Magpies come face to face with Mick and the Navy Blues. After going down to the Blues in both encounters this year, the Pies will come out breathing fire.

Since 2008:
Collingwood: 5
Carlton: 5

Round Three (Sunday 14 April - Seven): Collingwood v Hawthorn, MCG (home), 3.15pm
Hawthorn had the wood over the Woods in 2012, winning all three clashes by an average of 36 points. Chris Tarrant won’t be there to tackle Buddy this time, so who does Nathan Buckley turn to - Ben Reid, Nathan Brown or Lachlan Keeffe? There won’t be an empty seat in the house, especially if the sun stays out.

Since 2008:
Collingwood: 3
Hawthorn: 7

Round Four (Saturday 20 April - FOX): Richmond v Collingwood, MCG (away), 2.10pm
For the sixth year in succession, we only meet Richmond once for the season. This comes after the two sides opened the home and away season in round one from 2002-2004. The Pies haven’t lost to the men from Punt Rd since round 19, 2007, but the Tiger Army is beginning to stir. Let’s hope the sleeping giant hits the snooze button early in the season.

Since 2008:
Collingwood: 5
Richmond: 0

Round Five (Thursday 25 April - Seven): Essendon v Collingwood, MCG (away), 2.40pm?
Last year’s ANZAC Day clash was arguably the highlight of the season as Collingwood recorded a stirring one-point win over the Dons. James Hird was a thorn in our side on ANZAC Day during his playing career but he’s yet to notch victory from the coaches box.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
8
Essendon: 2

Round Six (Friday 3 May - FOX): Collingwood v St Kilda, Etihad Stadium (home), 7.50pm
We experience the Friday night lights for the first time in 2013 with a clash against St Kilda. We still haven’t played a day game against the Saints since the 2010 Grand Final Replay, but it hasn’t stopped us from winning our three meetings in the last two years.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
7
St Kilda: 4
Drawn: 1

Round Seven (Saturday 11 May - FOX): Fremantle v Collingwood, Patersons Stadium (away), 5.40pm
Our one and only trip to Perth for the season sees us tackle Ross Lyon’s Dockers under lights. Lyon had Freo on the right track in 2012 so they loom as an early season improver. An interesting contest as we hit the road for the first time.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
5
Fremantle: 1

Round Eight (Saturday 18 May - Seven): Collingwood v Geelong, MCG (home), 7.50pm
Another mid-May clash with Geelong? Yep, you read that correctly. Collingwood has played the Cats in rounds eight or nine every year since 2008. With three ready-made recruits on board, it appears that Geelong will be right back in contention in 2013, meaning we should be set for another huge crowd at the home of footy.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
5
Geelong: 6

Round Nine (Friday 24 May - Seven): Collingwood v Sydney, MCG (home), 7.50pm
Collingwood hasn’t played many games at the MCG against the Swans in recent times. In fact, we’ve only met them there five times since the 1936 Grand Final, so the team will be keen to make this one count. It will be the Magpies’ first Friday night match against Sydney at the ‘G since Plugger Lockett ran riot with 10 goals against Mal Michael and Andrew Schauble in round seven, 1998.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
7
Sydney: 1

Round 10 (Friday 31 May - SEVEN): Brisbane v Collingwood, Gabba (away), 7.50pm
Recent battles with the Brisbane Lions have been somewhat uneventful, aside from the Magpies’ unexpected loss to the Lions in round 10, 2010. But with the Lions ending the 2012 season strongly, the trip to the Gabba may have a little more to it. After losing all seven matches at the venue between 1997 and 2005, the Magpies have emerged triumphant from three of their last five visits.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
4
Brisbane: 2

Round 11 (Monday 10 June - Seven): Melbourne v Collingwood, MCG (away), 3.15pm
There will be plenty of interest in the annual Queen’s Birthday clash following Chris Dawes’ move down the road from the Westpac Centre to AAMI Park. The 2010 premiership forward will line up alongside Mitch Clark in attack, giving the Demons a new look inside 50. Only three of the premiership 22 from 2010 have left Collingwood, and only two are playing elsewhere, meaning this will be a new experience for players and fans alike.

Since 2008:
Collingwood
: 6
Melbourne: 0
Drawn: 1

Round 12 (Sunday 16 June - FOX): Collingwood v Western Bulldogs, Etihad Stadium (home), 4.40pm
Collingwood will be looking to enter the bye weekend with a win under its belt from the clash with the Western Bulldogs in the Etihad twilight zone. The Magpies will be wearing black shorts despite playing on the Doggies home track - something they did between 2008 and 2010.

Since 2008:
Collingwood
: 6
Western Bulldogs: 2

Round 13: BYE
Put your feet up by the fire and take a week off.

Round 14 (Saturday 29 June - FOX): Port Adelaide v Collingwood, AAMI Stadium (away), 4.10pm
A trip to South Australia will await the Pies after their week off. The two sides have staged some ding-dong battles at Footy Park but the Power’s recent fortunes have meant that Collingwood has emerged victorious in its past six meetings. New recruit Jordan Russell - a native Croweater - will have this match pencilled in his diary early in the season.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
6
Port Adelaide: 0

Round 15 (Friday 5 July - Seven): Carlton v Collingwood, MCG (away), 7.50pm
“There are two games you must win every season. Carlton at home, and Carlton away”. Just win. Say no more.

Round 16 (Friday 12 July - Seven): Collingwood v Adelaide, MCG (home), 7.50pm
Considering our recent record against Adelaide, it’s unfortunate that this match isn’t at AAMI Stadium. Having won their past four games on the road against the Crows, the Magpies wouldn’t have said no. Instead, it’s our last trip to the Docklands for 2013.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
7
Adelaide: 1

Round 17 (Saturday 20 July - FOX): Gold Coast v Collingwood, Metricon Stadium (away), 4.40pm
A great chance for supporters (and the players) to grab a bit of sun during the depths of winter. Not to mention another opportunity to watch Gary Ablett at close quarters.

Since 2011:
Collingwood:
2
Gold Coast: 0

Round 18 (Saturday 27 July - FOX): Collingwood v Greater Western Sydney, MCG (home), 4.40pm
The Giants tackle the competition’s giants at the MCG for the first time. With Kevin Sheedy handing over the reigns to Leon Cameron at the end of the 2013 season, barring any September action, it looms as the last time he will coach against Collingwood.

Since 2012:
Collingwood:
1
Greater Western Sydney: 0

Round 19 (Sunday 4 August - FOX): Collingwood v Essendon, MCG (home), 4.40pm
Let’s hope we’re shooting for our ninth successive win over the Dons.

Round 20 (Saturday 10 August - Seven): Sydney v Collingwood, ANZ Stadium (away), 7.40pm
Collingwood’s first visit to ANZ Stadium since the Preliminary Final loss to the Swans. With such a proud record at the Olympic Stadium, bank on the Magpies giving a great account of themselves.

Round 21 (Friday 16 August - Seven): Hawthorn v Collingwood, MCG (away), 7.50pm
Another heavyweight bout in the lead up to September. If recent years are any guide, both teams will be gearing up for a tilt at the Holy Grail.

Round 22 (Friday 23 August - Seven): Collingwood v West Coast, MCG (home), 7.50pm
We played the Eagles three times in 2012 but will have to wait until the penultimate round to face them in the 2013 home and away season. It will be the first meeting since Collingwood’s emotional Semi-Final win last month.

Since 2008:
Collingwood:
7
West Coast: 1

Round 23 (TBC): Collingwood v North Melbourne, MCG (home)
Since 2010, the AFL has employed a floating final round fixture to ensure that all finals contenders receive the fairest result possible heading into September. We will have to wait until after the mid-season bye before we find out exactly when we will face North for the second time next season.
