The Magpies’ surprise top pick in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft proved late in the 2017 season that he deserved another chance by fully committing himself to his craft and the hard work paid off last year when he finally broke through at AFL level. The big-bodied inside midfielder nicknamed ‘Bear’ received his opportunity when Adam Treloar was sidelined and he played 12 of the last 13 games. He was a solid contributor, averaging 19.5 possessions (including 10.6 contested), four clearances and 4.6 tackles.
