Premiership midfielder Dayne Beams will return to Collingwood after a trade was finalised facilitating his move from Brisbane.
In exchange for Beams and selections 41 and 44, Brisbane will receive picks 18 and 56 in this year's national draft and Collingwood's 2019 first-round pick.
Beams initially requested a trade to the Lions at the end of the 2014 season to be closer to his ill father who has since passed away.
One of the competition’s premier midfielders, Beams played 110 games for Collingwood before joining the Lions where he lined up for 58 games over four years.
Season 2018 saw a return to form for the 28-year-old who played 21 games and finished second in Brisbane’s best and fairest count.
Beams returns to the Pies as a member of the 2010 premiership team and will be remembered by fans for his stellar 2012 season when he earned All Australian selection and won the Copeland Trophy as Collingwood’s best and fairest player.
Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said he was pleased to have negotiated a deal with Brisbane.
“It’s wonderful to see a player of Dayne’s calibre return to the Holden Centre,” Guy said.
“He is an elite midfielder and we look forward to the impact his talent and experience will bring to our squad.”
