There appears to be some mixed views within the broader Collingwood family over the comments president Eddie McGuire and others made about Caroline Wilson last week.
For the record, I want to reinforce the message sent to you all on behalf of the Collingwood board on Monday. The clear message is that any behaviour or language that causes, condones or makes light of violence against women is unacceptable and will be held to account.
Can the debate move away from whether the comments were right or wrong? We know the answer. Eddie has already stated that what he said was inappropriate and for that he has apologised.
The conversation now, for everyone, should be about personal responsibility. This is an opportunity for all of us to ask ourselves about what constitutes respect for women.
A message from the CEO
On Wednesday Collingwood Chief Executive Officer Gary Pert penned this message to the Magpies' supporter base and the football community.
