Broomhead sidelined by Glandular Fever
Collingwood has shifted South Australian recruit Tim Broomhead onto its long-term injury list.
The midfielder, who turns 19 on Friday, is suffering from Glandular Fever and did not take part in the club's NAB Cup campaign.
Broomhead was the third of Collingwood's three successive first round selections in the 2012 National Draft (selection No. 20 overall).
He was recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies and represented South Australia at last year's National Under-18 Championships.
Collingwood's Director of Football Geoff Walsh said that Broomhead's illness will require at least eight weeks to properly recover from.
"He's got Glandular Fever and both our medical and strength and conditioning staff have said that he will need eight weeks to recover which means he is eligible to be moved onto the long-term injury list," Walsh said.
"He will need eight weeks of conditioning and then full training to help him recover so it gives us the opportunity to use someone else who can take the opportunity created by Tim's misfortune."
Collingwood has not yet announced a replacement for Broomhead on its senior list.
The club promoted rookie pair Ben Hudson and Jack Frost onto its senior list on Tuesday.
Sam Dywer, Kyle Martin, Adam Oxley, Caolan Mooney, Peter Yagmoor, Michael Hartley and Ben Richmond are the seven players who are currently on the Magpies rookie list.
